Susan Shapiro, a Manhattan journalism professor, is author of 8 books her family hates: the comic novels Overexposed & Speed Shrinking and nonfiction chronicles of her obsessions Unhooked, Only as Good as Your Word, Lighting Up, Secrets of a Fix-Up Fanatic and Five Men Who Broke My Heart, being made into a movie. She freelances for The NY Times, WSJ, Washington Post, Newsweek, Salon, Psychology Today & Marie Claire. She and her husband, a TV/film writer who can't stand being written about, live in Greenwich Village, where she teaches her popular "instant gratification takes too long" classes at the New School, NYU, and in private workshops and seminars.
